Fourth Sunday of Advent: LOVE

Love is the fourth of the Advent and Christmas features which reflect on the NMI Identity Statement and NMI’s Five Areas of Impact. 

NMI is the global missions advocate in every local church, nurturing a spirit of missions, and mobilizing into action, impacting people around the world. 

How does our effort ‘impact people around the world’? Primarily through connecting them with the love of God. And what fuels our faithful, mission-driven, others-focused partnership with God? Love does! Love does not hold back, nor does it play favorites. It is not self-centered, nor is it blind to the inequities of the times. Love flows from a place of deep gratitude and deeper humility that understands love’s origin—in the heart of God! 

Advent became an expression of LOVE: God’s love for the world and the extent to which he was willing to sacrifice the One he loved most for the undeserving of his creation. Christ’s coming would be the greatest revelation of a loving God, and his teachings would be the greatest lessons for people living in diverse, divided, prejudiced, and troubled contexts.
