Third Sunday of Advent: JOY

Joy is the third of the Advent and Christmas features which reflect on the NMI Identity Statement and NMI’s Five Areas of Impact. 

NMI is the global missions advocate in every local church, nurturing a spirit of missions, and mobilizing into action, impacting people around the world. 

What does it mean to ‘mobilize into action’? It means to do our part and to help others do theirs to make a substantive difference wherever we are in the world. It is about transformation. It is about telling the stories of transformation. We remind ourselves that every day, with every encounter, regardless of the context, our transformed lives should impact others who are longing for the arrival of Christ in their lives. Our joy is made complete, because others are being made new through his touch upon their lives. 

Advent has always been heralded as a Season of JOY, because the Christ who was born ushered in a new spirit that cannot be broken by sadness, sickness, or death. Life is, in Christ, to be lived out joyfully, building relationships that reflect the joy of Trinity in perfect union, perfect communion. What a joy to live life this way!
